Located at #106-C Maginhawa Street, Theo’s Baked and Brewed offers exquisite flavors at reasonable prices and a place where one can freely relax after a long, tiring day. Upon entering the welcoming café, one would immediately be greeted by the smell of luscious brewed coffee, the sounds of soothing jazz music and a version of their own chandelier where vintage-looking light bulbs and exotic bird figurines are hanging from a wire, replacing the traditional glass-and-lights combination. There are also photographs, paintings, graffiti arts and wall fixtures begging to be caught on camera and posted online. The place is an “Instagram-magnet” as they say. It also has a second floor which is equally relaxing as the first, but allows for more seats for customers and a little view of Maginhawa Street. Unlike other coffee and pastry shops, Theo’s is a comforting place; perfect for those who seek a quieter atmosphere at the heart of a busy city.

Theo’s is well known for serving sumptuous meals at very affordable prices. For 135 pesos, you can already taste the flavors of their Spicy Sardine Pasta. Carbonara, on the other hand, is available at 140 pesos. These two dishes are some of the recommended dishes in their menu. The café also offers entrées or main course dishes for those people who prefer to take their lunch or dinner. Among them, Mama’s Special Beef Tenderloin stood out. It is a meal of marinated beef tenderloin cuts, stir fried in barbecue sauce, served with garnished rice and their version of Steamed Vegetables. It is available at a mere 180 pesos. According to the store, this famous dish has been passed from generation to generation, making it one of their best sellers. Next is Lengua in Mushroom Sauce at an affordable 165 pesos. Lengua is an exotic Spanish dish of thinly-cut pig’s tongue, pan-fried in butter, and topped with mushroom sauce.
Their meals may already be bursting with flavors, and their drinks are no different. The café offers different kinds of Frappuccino, either coffee based or cream based. For the cream based Frappuccino, consider Strawberries and Cream which is available for 115 pesos. Hazelnut and Green Tea, at 120 pesos, is also worth trying. As for coffee based blends, White Mocha is delectable and may be bought at the price of 115 pesos. They also sell smoothies blended from fruits, at a price of 110 pesos. If you are not a fan of blended drinks, resort to classic espresso drinks. Aside from being relatively cheaper, you are also given the choice between hot or iced. Hazelnut Green Tea Latte will not disappoint your inner cravings. It is sold at 90 pesos if you choose to go for the hot variant, add five pesos and you get to taste its counterpart, the iced version. And that’s not all. When we were kids, and somehow even until now, eating cookies wouldn’t be complete without milk. Usually, we’d dip our cookies in a glass of milk and sometimes, see how heartbreaking our cookie would break and fall in the glass. But imagine, removing that incident and removing the glass. Theo’s offers their very own Cookie Cup + Milk for only 65 pesos. It’s a cup-shaped chocolate cookie where you’d pour milk inside the cookie cup, drink from there while munching it down.
Overall, Theo’s Baked and Brewed café is a nice spot for hang-outs and warm conversations. The fitting ambiance, as well as the many choices of affordable meals complete the desires of the taste combined with pleasure. Backed by its strategic location, Theo’s is definitely worth visiting. They’re open from 7 A.M. to 11:30 P.M. from Monday to Sunday. You may contact them through their website: www.theoscafeph.com
