Claret School of Quezon City (CSQC) finally introduced the implementation Senior High School (SHS) under the K-12 program for Grade 11. As requested by the Department of Education (DepEd), CSQC accepted scholars from other schools. Among the fourteen (14) scholars in Claret, seven (7) are females.

The women came from three respective schools, namely: Batasan High School, Quezon City Science High School, and Don Alejandro Roces Sr. Sci- Tech High School.

The applicants underwent DepEd’s SHS Voucher Program. This program aims to provide Grade 10 completers the opportunity to pursue SHS education in non-DepEd schools such as Private High Schools. This also entitles the beneficiaries to receive a discount or deduction from the tuition fee of the school they are applying to.

The new batch of scholars were supposed to be included in the night shift program but they were not viable enough to be assembled into a full section, thus the administration decided to integrate the 14 scholars into the standard morning shift.

They seem to be doing fine so far in the first semester of the school year 2016-2017, according to Mrs. Estela Nicodemus, the Academic Coordinator for Senior High School. She also stated that it could be possible that more female applicants will be accepted for the next batches of Grade 11 students.

To cope with the change of the curriculum, the administration oriented its personnel and students about the new applicants, and adjusted a few of its school policies like those under the official school uniform and good grooming.

According to one of the new female students, “It’s comical how it already felt like I’ve been in Claret for years when it was actually just 3 months. [It is] probably because of the warm welcome of the Claretians, and when I say “Claretians”, it includes all the members of the faculty and staff.”
